| The Tri County Express
("TCX") Track Club was established in 1986 by Head
Coach John Barber. Coach Barber has coached over a
thousand young athletes, helping them to reach
their full potential on the track. Several of
Coach Barber's former athletes were nationally
ranked (six national champions and several
national medalists). Five were PA state champions
and several of the high school athletes who ran
for TCX medalled in the PA state meet.

In addition to Coach Barber's
achievements with TCX, John was a former college
track athlete at Penn State University and a
student coaching assistant with Harry Groves
(Groves was the NCAA Division I Coach of the Year
several times, head coach of several national
teams, and the 1992 Assistant Olympic Coach). John
was the Midatlantic USATF Youth Chairman from 1993
to 1995. As Youth Chairman, in 1994, he started
the Youth Athletic Indoor Track and Field Series
at Lehigh University. John was an assistant
women's coach at Ursinus College and held various
head and assistant coaching positions at middle
and high schools in the area.
